New Arrival: Preparing for a “Standard Rebuild”

Welcome to the workshop! This classic Mini A-series engine has just arrived for its standard rebuild.

While not every engine needs a full, custom restoration, they all deserve the same level of precision and care. This engine will be completely disassembled, thoroughly cleaned, and every component will be inspected against factory specifications. We’ll focus on replacing all wear items—bearings, seals, gaskets, etc.—to ensure reliable performance and longevity.
​Our goal is simple: to get this heart of the Mini running perfectly and dependably for many more miles.

Deep Dive: Valves Removed

The cylinder head is off and we are now removing the valves to inspect their condition. This critical step lets us assess the valve seats and guides for wear, ensuring we can guarantee a perfect, gas-tight seal for maximum compression. Replacing worn components now is key to the reliability and power of this engine’s future performance.

Getting Clean: Chemical Bath

The fully stripped cylinder head is now submerged in a chemical bath to thoroughly dissolve all carbon buildup and debris. This process ensures a perfectly clean foundation, allowing us to accurately inspect the part for any hairline cracks or imperfections. A clean head is vital for a gas-tight sealing required for reliable compression.
